ROAMAFRICA is a small expedition company run by three guides who grew up in Namibia and South Africa and spent years leading trips abroad with Backroads. We lead every departure ourselves — small groups, slow days, real conversations.

How three guides from Namibia and South Africa met on the road, guided the world with Backroads, and came home to build a company around it.
Where we come from
We grew up between Otjiwarongo and the Cape — small towns close to Etosha, farms at the edge of the Karoo, long weekends out at the pans. Different countries, the same landscapes, the same habit of driving further than we needed to.
We guided the world
Ruben spent years as a Backroads guide, leading small groups through the European Alps, Scandinavia and the Mediterranean. It taught us what a well-run trip actually takes, from the logistics to the actual moments people will remember.
We came back to show the world our home
In 2026 we came home and founded ROAMAFRICA — the kind of small, slow operation we believe this region deserves. Every departure is led by one of us. Every lodge partner is someone we have worked with for years.
